Digital Polygon's top 6 picks for Digital Summit DC 2019

Our Top 6 Picks for Digital Summit DC 2019

Digital Summit 2019 is here in DC and boasting a lineup of 54 speakers at this year’s event. Digital Summit is one of the best opportunities for those in the digital marketing space to learn and grow with the industry. With so many options to choose from, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed with FOMO. Leaving out the keynote speakers, here’s what I’m most excited to see (in chronological order):

1. Break The Rules: How Brave Brands Are Challenging The Status Quo

Day 1 | 4 Sep 2019 | 2:30 pm – 3:00 pm

Explore the effects of conformity on branding and strategies to avoid issues that come with it. Controversy is always exciting and it could be useful to gain a subversive perspective on brand building that doesn’t follow an already massive mainstream ideology.

Speaker: Nicola Smith, REBEL & REASON

2. First Impressions: Creating Iterative, Automated Customer Segmentation with AI

Day 1 | 4 Sep 2019| 3:15 pm – 3:45 pm

This covers implementing AI to understand customer decisions and dynamic segmentation to improve your business. Automation is key in making a business run more efficiently. More automation allows business people and organizations alike to direct attention towards higher order tasks.

Speaker: Ashley Bryant-Baker, Amtrak

3. 9 Machine Learning Tools You Can Use To Add Efficient Growth to Your Digital Advertising

Day 1 | 4 Sep 2019 | 4:00 pm – 4:30 pm

The discussion outlines paid advertisement campaigns and improving on targeting, creative, optimization and cross-channel measurement — and understanding where machine learning can/can’t help. I’m interested to see what types of concepts and actionable strategies will come of it.

Speaker: Andrew Nelson, Silverback Strategies

4. Six Data-Validated Tactics to Increase Marketers Qualified Lead Volume

Day 2 | 5 Sep 2019 | 2:30 pm – 3:00 pm

I’m a firm believer in data-backed methods, so the title of this session jumped right out at me. And the outline is simple and straight-forward: (1) six tactics to improve leads, (2) tactics that don’t, and (3) how to analyze your current marketing efforts.

Speaker: Garrett Mehrguth, Directive Consulting

5. Digital Jetpacks: Cultural Strategy, Brand Leadership & Real-Life Experience

Day 2 | 5 Sep 2019 | 10:00 am – 10:30 am

This session covers cultural experience marketing, what it is, and its applications in building a brand. It also discusses utility and purpose behind a brand which I think is too often overlooked. I’m interested to see if this covers brand building from a more purpose driven perspective.

Speaker: Eric Shutt, SummitX

6. Future Proof: Marketing Transformation in the 2020s

Day 2 | 5 Sep 2019 | 2:30 pm – 3:00 pm

This will discuss the 9 different types of intelligence (as highlighted in developmental psychologist Howard Gardener’s book Frames of Mind: The Theory of Multiple Intelligences) and their roles in your marketing efforts. It will also discuss the impact of historical trends as they relate to the future, and organizational principles. This should be interesting to explore the ties between pyschology and marketing.

Speaker: Geoffrey Colon, Microsoft

Which ever sessions you decide on, you’re sure to walk away with valuable information from attending. If you haven’t had a look at the agenda yet, there’s still a bit of time. I hope you enjoyed reading this list or it serves useful to you. What do you think I missed? Let me know what you’re excited to see in the comments.
